About Us

My name is Jen and my hubby's name is Shane. We are located in beautiful Mission BC.  We first knew we were hooked on pugs when we purchased our first pug Shelby, she was the funniest looking thing with personality to boot. Soon after bringing her home she transformed into the most perfect companion with nothing but love to give.  Soon my entire family was hooked on pugs and my Dad even wanted one for himself to take to work with him every day driving truck.  We are a family hooked on this wonderful breed.  I admit it's true when you hear the phrase "Pugs are like potato chips, you can't have just one" because two years after getting Shelby we introduced Chance to the family and like any true pug she just fit right in and has made our house her home.

My house is a very pet friendly home, we are owned by three dogs, Jessy (the pom X) Shelby and Chance (pugs). We also have three wonderful cats and everyone lives together happily.

At kaijen we treat our pugs and pets as if they are members of our family and we'd have it no other way, our dogs all live underfoot and are our constant companions. -Jen Hillairet

Always remember to do your research when planning on adding any new fur-coated friend to the family, with the adoption comes a life time commitment to that animal to do right by it and to treat it with the up-most respect and love it deserves.

As a breeder I put my heart and soul into every life I bring into this world and just like my human kids I want nothing but the best for them,  it's the least I can do.   All potential future fur-baby parents will be interveiwed by myself either by phone or afternoon coffee in my home so you can get to know my dogs and see how they live.

There are a lot of things you should be careful about when looking for a pug or a puppy.

First off A REPUTABLE breeder only breeds for themselves for the betterment of the breed within their blood lines and for future show prospects aiming for quality puppies not quantity.

NO REPUTABLE breeder will sell via local paper or websites like craigslist.

A REPUTABLE breeder will invite you into their home to see the pup's and pugs of their house hold.

A REPUTABLE breeder will place all pet quality puppies on a spay/neuter contract no exceptions.

A REPUTABLE breeder offers a life time of support along with the puppy you purchase and will ALWAYS take the puppy back if for some reason you can't keep it anymore, this applies even if that puppy is the ripe old age of 15 years old! No puppy or dog EVER deserves to be dumped in a shelter or rescue!

NEVER hold back on any questions you may have!  You can never know too much!

Important question to keep in mind and ask...
Does the breeder offer a written contract with a health guarentee?

Another series of questions to ask yourself:

Is the premises clean?

Are all the dogs clean?

  Are all the dogs happy?

Are all the dogs healthy?

Will the breeder supply references and not just past puppy buyers?

These few questions could save you thousands of dollars and irriversable heartache in the long run.
